For the last 45 minutes I'm getting the Spanish station from Ohio, "Que
Buena", a relog; pretty strong for 29 watts. A PSA for Lake Geneva just
appeared at 0116 EDT, so that's WZRK with a very mighty one watt signal.

I heard that interruption in signal during the local weather following CBC
news and did not return to listen. If this is indeed the end, what an
undignified end to 61 years of service-- with on-again, off-again program
interruptions followed by dead air. RIP, CBE!

While parked on 1550, I couldn't help but notice a strong carrier on
1566, and sure enough there's some audio (slow instrumental music)
coming through. Maybe TWR Benin. Just a heads up for anyone wishing
to chase this, it's not exactly an easy catch from my location.

Yep, I heard that too. I'm afraid I may be dealing with a blown FET if my
hunch is correct. I'm going to submit this to the Kenwood R-5000 discussion

Tonight loud and clear with Real Country IDs. But in fact every night for at
least the past two months. They are a licenced daytimer at 5KW. If you need
'em... I wonder what WCKY thinks. I am tempted to call them, see if they're
even aware or if they're having problems, and perhaps discuss a DX

teams as "Maryville", that would be St. Joseph, MOthey're over/under Lake

It can't be WHIT. They have never carried HSFB, and they never
intentionally stay on past sunset. Besides, I have been paying attention to

tonight and they are not there. I am not hearing HSFB on 1550 tonight either.

I think it's WHIT that's still on with high school football. Didn't
listen long enough for an ID but it's in the same general direction as
Windsor.
With CBE running 10KW once the game is over I should have a good shot at
catching it.

One more update: the interference issues with CBEW-FM were caused by a pirate
in the Detroit area, which has been shut down, so there was no need to
postpone the shutdown of CBE.
The segment about the shutdown aired on CBE at about 1750. They used the
audio from this TV story (mind the wrap):
No argument about my "poorer" DU location here, Walt.
Did some live listening from 1330 to 1400UT the last couple of
mornings, and no audio here at all, just a number of good
carriers. And, there was a time when DU's were heard at this
location quite well, just not anymore.

1575 had strong hets for awhile which the N/S wire had too, which have
traditionally not been DU for me. Lots of MW hets but hardly any with decent
audio, and even 891 never more than very briefly poor level. 738 very poor,

audio. All DU again, with only the west corner fed loop producing any
audio. Same pattern with some of the frequencies only appearing late around

Listened from 1145-1320 utc and the only audio was on 279 at 1150 utc with a
little music. Weak carriiers on 594, 693, 747 and 774.

The liner Saul noted is very common although I forget which Oldies service uses
it. In those cases I'd be hesitant to draw any conclusions without more data.
