I'm sad to hear of KLYC 1260 planning to leave the air. I can occasionally
hear them here in Spokane, usually on SRS in the morning, when CFRN is not too
strong.
When I was attending Gonzaga University here in Spokane in the early 70's, one
of my dormmates was from McMinnville & had worked wee

1590 KTIL OR, Tillamook, in tuning by 1590 tonight (0130 EDT-3/21),
noted "True Oldies Station", followed by an "AM 1590 KTIL" ID. Don't
know when they switched, but it must have been recently as they were
talk a few days ago, unless they are doing a split format, Talk days,
Oldies at night. T
Getting a good signal here under KMA. Station is obviously on day power,
airing a combination of delta blues and R&B oldies, and using the slogan ID
"The Awesome AM". CLs are heard every once in a while.

a real cash cow for it's owners. I used to hang out there as a kid and

This is sad indeed to see a historic station leave the air. I did a little
research on the history of this station today, very interesting.
I want to ask a favor, would someone be able to record the sign -off of this
station on Friday, I would like to add to my growing collection.
Kind Regards

There's nothing quite like a geomagnetic upset to clear out the propagation
passageways a bit. This morning had some of the most interesting Asian DX in

I remember one thing the CE told me at KBAM Longview back in the 70s the
stations in the shadow of Portland, they always have to compete harder.
McMinnville is in that metro Portland area. But with all of AM & FM
stations on the air, it is hard for many of them to get enough ad money
to stay afloat
Dennis,
Yes, that is sad to see the station go. I don't like to see any AM
station go off the air, but the old ones, it is even more sad.
I remember well the days when so many of the Valley stations were solid
as a rock and were popular. KMCM was very popular and I remember

Patrick,
The owner of KLYC has schedule a sale of the equipment and furnishings on April

Portland PDX forum believe that station will not retur

With auroral conditions over the Asians returned to their normal (mid-March)

Mixed TP/DU this morning. Lots of low band hets, a few mid and high band

Has been exceedingly hot here for various DXers for a couple weeks.
I've had Wylie TX 3x on 700, at just a couple thou watts.
Niel Wolfish had Forrest City AR 950 a few mornings ago...and they were in huge

That is too bad. I remember listening to the station back in the 1960s
under the calls KMCM for McMinnville. I wonder if the station will
finally be bought and return to the air? I guess it came on in 1949, the
year I was born.
