Hello Les,
I'm interested in hearing a brief summary from those DX'ers most active
in ultralight DXing on the AM band of the top performing models
available as of late 2013. I'm not particularly interested in the
performance of ultralights that have been modified or married to large

I'm ready to go. I will have a ton of Morse code on at a very slow pace. I
will probably crack the mic also.

I've heard WWLE in Cornwall, NY carry Spanish sometimes, used to be CNN news.
They are normally a daytimer.

It seemed to be a westward night from here. WAMA Lima, OH heard at 2AM,
Oldies heard all night with a good ID from CKOC at 11PM and my local WMRD
heard most of the other times although weak enough. Zoomed in on the Perseus
I could see 7 distinct carriers. Wish I could've heard all of the audio.
WAOS Austell GA has the 20 kW day power on tonight - heard a dual ID for
WAOS and WLBA at 2100 EST. Format is Mexican music, interspersed with
phone-in talk.

gorilla CKOC. Not needed, as I heard them in 1979 with CKOC off. From
previous postings, it sounds like this test didn't air anyway.

I tried for the test and did not hear it. However, as a longwave beacon
fan, I sure find it appropriate that a station with this call sign
should run a test using Morse code IDs!

Not much audio this morning, and what there was was all on the top
end. The Big Three of the last while (HLAZ 1566, VOA 1575, and CNR
1593) all had poor audio, perhaps verging on fair at times. They were
joined this morning by what is presumably Taiwan on 1557, which actually
had the

Given that the contact at WNDB reconfirmed the test on the eve of, it's too bad
either no one received it or it didn't run as planned. I'm sure we'll hear soon
what happened - or didn't. It won't be the first, nor the last, and at least a
couple of you got a new logging on the channel anyhow.
Today I recorded the band from 1250 to 1534. I'd planned to record
longer but my hard drive ran out of space. As luck would have it, a
high band enhancement started just after 1525, so I was only able to
catch the first few minute of the fun. Things were quite mediocre up
until that point,

Practically nothing until 1520UT, then quite an interesting opening
until about 1545UT. Lots of carriers, and several channels with a
froth of audios, so that nothing could be distinguished.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
