Hello All,
Asian propagation here this morning was almost as bad as the performance of the
Russian ice hockey team (which lost to the Finns 3-1, on the Vancouver CBC
channel).
The only audio which managed to get through the deep freeze here was anemic

Hello All,
There have recently been several posts on the NRC list regarding the DXing
tradeoff with SDR receivers-- the advantage of spectrum capture weighed against
the disadvantage of needing to review multiple WAV files for potential value.
It may come as a surprise to Ultralight
Conditions were down here and that strange buzz made its way here.
972khz was in with fair audio at 1130utc, but soon dropped off to poor levels
and then the buzz kicked in.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Perseus SDR Receiver for my MW DXing
efforts! While I've used the SDR-IQ for years, I decided that I really
wanted the wider recording bandwidth for those nights when the band
opened or unusual conditions reigned.
So any tips or advice for a new owner? What

Hi Les,
One thing I'd highly recommend you do is download and try the
timer/scheduler software called MESTOR. It's the only utility of its type
that is considered bulletproof and 100% reliable for timed recordings with
Perseus. It'll do the TOH recordings you want, and a lot more!

As everyone else has already pointed out, this was an horrifically
pathetic morning for TPs. For the record, here are the DX crumbs I
managed to scrape off of my receiver's noise floor.

Took Niel Wolfish, DXing from Toronto, and me, Dxing from BR, awhile to figure
out who is playing adult standards an hour or so past our local sunset, to the
west, u/WRVA on 1140.
We came to suspect KXCV MO and Niel noticed it // station web stream a few
times. I noticed it tonight at 1850 EST
WMBO's wikipedia page confirms it's waiting to be Dinosaur and the slogan
would certainly fit a station taking that long to shift to a new identity.
Thanks, Paul. Easy relog...

Funny, when i was checking to see if KCXV was new I saw I had Piedmont logged,
and for awhile I wondered if Liberty and Piedmont stations were one and the
same. But they're not...

The FCC database still shows a CP but it's not always up to date. It may have
been granted program test authority for its new facilities and is using them.
That doesn't appear in the FCC database.

After the definite forecast of the last geomagnetic upset that turned
out to be rather tame, this mostly unheralded one really did wipe out
the Asians here. But Juan de Fuca Strait to the rescue again...a
little bit of DU evidence this morning. Grayland must have been hopping.

course, sigh ...) by TOH ID's from other stations.
