Conditions here were quite interesting today, and much better than what
Gary reported. There were lots of exotic carriers at the low end of the
dial. I would have had a truly great morning if they'd been strong
enough to produce audio. The upper part of the dial was less impressive

That's definitely a shame. I've logged close to 100 Mexican stations,
mostly lower power ones in the border states, and Fred's list has been
invaluable.

Got a little bit of signal out of some of the regulars this
morning; HLAZ pretty much owned what there was of sunrise enhancement.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
not quite; too much splatter and noise

It sounds like a winner Paul. Some reviewers on amazon agree that it is
great for mw dx and others fully disagree. I suspect there may be QC
issues, so it might be luck to get a good one. It would be a good idea to
buy from a source that takes returns. I really want a good AM / FM portable

Hi,
With all the talk on this receiver, where in the US can I get one repaired?
My ATS909 works ok, but after the receiver has been turned on for a while,
the sounds becomes distorted and fades out (this is the best way to describe
it)
It will be nice to have fixed and working again!

Hello All,
Asian signals had a tough time getting untracked this morning, but during
sunrise enhancement one of the usual die-hards rose up with good signals for
about 3 minutes.
At my 1430 start time there were a few ghostly signals in and out on 594, 738,
747, 972 and 1566, but none
The older ATS-909/RadioShack DX-398 has a reputation of being numb on MW and SW
without external antennas. My DX-398 is. SW is excellent with a short length of
wire clipped to the whip. MW is great when used with an inductively coupled
loop. Fortunately I paid very little for mine. I think it
If I am not dreaming this, C.Crane used to offer the ATS-909 with a mod to
fix this. I think that's how mine is . . . and mine is still going strong

Checking my recording from last night I found I had several loud and
clear IDs for K-Talk, AM 630 KTKK Sandy - Salt Lake City. The most
unusual thing about that is that I was hearing this not on 630, but on
1440. Anyone know what gives?

Only two with audio today, but a marked improvement from yesterday.
1575 VOA was in consistently from 1425 to 1450, and even reached a
'good' level for a couple of minutes around 1435. HLAZ was a bit
weaker, but still fair for abour 15 minutes. Oddly enough, the next
