I am looking to add an amplifier to some of my mw loop antennas and would
like to know if anyone is using the Clifton Labs Z10040A and how well it
performs. thanks Jim

I think Clifton Labs sells the Z10040B now Jim. As amplifiers go, I
suspect you won't get much better than this one, very well specified
and tested. But for best results, you'll want to provide it with 50
ohm input and 50 ohm output; the latter could be a 50 ohm attenuator
pad if you have

Great job guys. It's funny, what a difference a couple hundred miles can make.
Down here in St. Louis, Missouri, I feel lucky every time I even hear WWKB

Congratulations Neil!
You seldom see logs of this of this outside PA, NJ, NY, New England, and
eastern Canada.

I don't think WWKB beams much signal your direction likely protecting KOKC.
It's also important to note what a difference antennas make. If I aim a DKAZ
west or SW I won't know WWKB is on the air. If I aim ENE as now with the array,
I don't know that KRHW and KOKC are on the air.

I do hear the first iteration of “Y.Doodle” about 4 sec in, but it’s louder and
much more distinct (to my ears anyway) when it starts up again at :21 in. (I
think there may be one of their “This is the Voice of America, Washington,

And yes, congratulations indeed Neil. No carriers on the west coast
last night however (it has happened in early May...in 2009, couple

Nice! Gives me goose bumps to hear a distant ‘Yankee Doodle’ like that!
Heard here in DC, but not often. This from a few years ago at 0300 s/on:

Ok, I hear it not.. your audio clip is at such a low level and my
headphones are cranked. I had to bring it into Cool Edit/Adobe Audition and
boost it almost 15db to hear it.
