Hello All,
Yesterday's torrid Kiwi propagation didn't repeat for a second day, temporarily
making Chuck, Tom and I wonder if the session might turn out to be somewhat of
a letdown. But around 1300 the Cliff delivered interesting DX as usual, with
several low-band Australians providing some e

The filters in Perseus (and most SDR's) are light years better than analog
radios. Sensitivity is adequate below 10 or 15 MHz but not good above that.
It's good at handling strong signals including long Beverages.
As for other radios, the current QS1R, WinRadio, Elad and RFSpace radios

Nice Wangaratta mention there Chuck.Unfortunately, 1566 had

anything 15 minutes earlier, which I think was the peak here.
Thanks.

1575 also noted here in passing but I have not listened to recordings yet
except 1566.
As for similarities, remember that Gary only listens to the bottom 300 or 400
kHz of the band. He's also very Kiwi focused.

Looks like the guys at Rockworks picked a good weekend. Another
interesting morning here, even slightly better than yesterday, but with
some different stations favoured, as Gary noted. Here it was mostly a
high band morning, like yesterday. Certainly some carriers at the low
end, but non
I dont know if this has ever been logged in the US or how much power it

Hello All,
There was no repeat of yesterday's torrid Kiwi propagation at the plunging
ocean cliff this morning, but as usual the awesome view site provided a silver
lining for DXers hoping for some excitement. Around 1300 the Australians on the
low band became unusually strong, with relative
Thanks Bill.
As you might guess, the DU propagation this morning was completely different
from yesterday-- weird Australians all over the low band, while the Kiwis were
relatively subdued. Chuck seemed to be looking for a repeat of yesterday, but
Tom and I were thankful for the variety!

Bill, a very interesting report. I like your format, and audio clips.
Tell me more about KHMB 1710. I've never heard of them. I see that they
have a website. The only KHMB that comes up on the Radio Locator website
is a FM station in Hamburg, Arkansas. Are we talking about a 100 mW

Nick, I checked out the band after dropping off my sister at the airport
starting at 12:25 Aug 8, and sure enough the two best signals were from
1593 and 1503, presumably DU. Lower half of the band was kaput. 73,

Sounds like KQQZ-1190 in DeSoto, MO, is on their daytime power. They are
putting a monster signal into the southeast Houston area this morning. Music
format is classic country-western. I've heard various slogans like "1190 KQQZ,"
