Okay guys help me out here. I always thought the sensitivity of a 'short'
wire antenna was primarily from the sides, so that the wire would need to be
orthogonal to the target signals.
James' 150 feet would seem to be a 'short' antenna on the Medium-Wave band;
I'm assuming his wire is elevate

The typical end-fed unterminated wire - call it longwire or shortwire but
basically anything 50 to 300 ft. - has SLIGHT nulls / minima at a right angle
to the wire and slightly more pick-up in the direction heading away from the

Yes, the longwire is elevated about 15 feet. When I moved into onto my 1 acre
about 2007, this was the longest wire run I could get and it has stayed as an
all rounded even today.

One good sanity check would be to do up a quick and simple SuperLoop. Align it
similarly to the DKAZ and put it far enough away so as not to interact.

If you get ambitious Jim, try a Vactrol termination, like Mark C.
used in his Flag antenna. It's amazing how stations fairly far off
the exact back end of the antenna get better nulls with a remotely
variable termination. At Grayland, it even helped kill the local noise.

you saying that deepening the null at 180 degrees means that the null at other
