Good on the 4RN Gary.Yes, that was it all
right, your recording is of a female jazz
vocalist testing out the pipes a bit. Here, it
was tough to find any parallels, but 576, though
very faint at that time, seemed to have the same
vocalist, so I think you can claim it.
You can also claim
Chasing Down-unders during auroral conditions, for me, has always been

weak signals and little audio due to traditionally low modulation -
thankfully most DU's no

Additionally, since virtually all DU's
Day one at Grayland was quite interesting, wit a mix of Asians and DUs.
I'll need lots of time to review the recordings, but here are he early
impressions. These logs were made using Chuck's DKAZ at 242 degrees.
There were plenty of Aussie ABC stations, as well as some commercial

It wasn't exactly a Victoria-like session, but freakish auroral conditions
brought the first Australian DU audio to Puyallup in 8 years. Audio showed up
on 594, 792 and 828, although they didn't cooperate to provide parallels. The
SSB spotting receiver had them all nulling to the SW, however,
Bruce, in Victoria, around 14:00, everything was solidly DU. Not
terrific, but many of the lower band stations at audio or almost audio.
612 was the winner for me. I didn't see anything that would be Asian at
that time. I suspected that the coast would yield interesting findings.

A bit OT here.
I remember someone asking me about a WIBA-1310 Brewers sticker that I had

Hi Nick,
Thanks very much for providing parallel confirmations for the freakish 594-3WV
and 792-4RN receptions here in Puyallup!
When 594 was first fading in with audio around 1355 I was very skeptical that
it wasn't JOAK, and wasted some time repeatedly checking the null bearing to

at least briefly):
not quite; 612 was making a run for it.
Reasonable audio at times during the
