[IRCA] Alberta TP for 6 December 2015

2015-12-06 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Downright dismal TP reception here this morning. The only audio was from 1575 VOA, which reached a fair level around 1445. Otherwise, it was only carriers, and most of them pretty feeble. Judging by the frequencies, most appeared to be of DU origin, though none were particularly close

Getting what sounds like tabla music crazy loud on 825 kHz... With no fading or anything to speak of... A spur perhaps? Definitely sub-continental music. 1449 UTC. Colin Newell - CoffeeCrew.com - VA7WWV - Victoria - BC ___ IRCA mailing list

Conditions were decidedly lackluster today. However, the mere presence of audio made it slightly better than normal for early December. JOUB-774 produced a few bits of audio at 1310. A few others peaked at 1440: HLCA-972, HLAZ-1566, and VOA-1575. 1575 had fair-poor audio at times. The

Colin, what a coincidence! I just happened to replace my Ni-Cad on my Haida Gwaii machine. It was old, corroded, and no longer holding a charge. I attempted to purchase one on-line on eBay, but the vendor would not deal with anyone out of the US. Guy Atkins came to my rescue with a

It was not a stellar morning. A single check at 1520 revealed weak audio on 1566 and 1575 and a moderate carrier on 972, a situation very common during December Doldrum propagation. Audio from these diehards could possibly have improved later in sunrise enhancement but the prospect wasn't

An odd morning here. A couple of apparent DUmaybe two stations on 1566, some big guns making sudden appearances, a couple of them sticking around, and all at odd times. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): might have been too much
