Hi,
Thanks to Tim Tromp for letting us know last night that CHHA was off.
Mostly I just heard the Caribbean beacon, but the odd TIS/HAR showed
up, including an unfamiliar one. The repeated loop was very short and
unfortunately no callsign is given. The phrase "road conditions green"

Colin,
I downloaded Audacity. How does it work? How to I dub from a CD in the drive on

Probably Coast to Coast Russ. I believe they played Shine on you crazy
diamond by Pink Floyd(my favorite band). Maybe that will narrow it down for
you.

I believe the SSB Rendition Russ heard was the background
music for a promo/ad for the 700 Club airing on WBOB.
Separately I sent Russ a short clip with that ad.
It began immediately after SRN News around 00:05EST.

At 0005 there was an electric guitar solo version of the SSB ( possibly the
version from Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock ? ) behind WBOB's regular schedule
audio. Did anyone catch this and ID it ?

Or, download Total Recorder ( you can get a limited time limited function
trial version ) at www.highcriteria.com. The ultimate license price is
quite reasonable. I find TR easier to operate than Audacity, and TR comes
with its own built-in scheduluer for use in setting up timed unattended

That you cannot record with MS recorder currently is likely a hardware

Les,
I remember Herb Jepco. I used to listen to his show off KSL in the 1960s from
Seward AK. I doubt I have any of it on old reel to reel tapes though, but I
have not thought about the show in years. I remember "44" who used to call in
that talked about sci fi and space travel. I miss a good
Les,
Here is a link to an interview done on the 40'th anniversary of Herb's
show. Enjoy.

Since I updated my computer to Windows 7 a while back, I have lost track of how
to record an audio file so I can attach it to an e mail. I tried on both the
laptop and the desktop computers. Both have the Sound Recorder built into MS. I
can bring it up and play a cassette or CD on the computer,

That's a possibility I hadn't considered, but given what I heard, that

I have reel recordings from the 1960's and 70's, and cassette backups as
well, but I have nothing to play any of them on. I was able to get about
85-90% of them converted to mp3 files, but haven't yet completed separating
them and cataloging them.

The test signed off at about 0208. They made an announcement 15 minutes
prior that it would end in 15 minutes. The first test material I had on my

the test only ran for 2 hours.

Patrick, I thought that way too long ago with both reel and cassette,
however my mind quickly changed when a couple of times the tape didn't
spool correctly and wound itself around the rollers. The only times I've
had problems with Total Recorder are when I've done something myself to

Russ,
Early in the testing period it sounded like the test programming was
covered by a strong OC. The Batchelor show would come back in place of the
OC. I thought maybe WBOB had 2 transmitters on at the same time.
