Definitely an Asian morning, but think that Colin had the edge on the
actual receptions. Things seemed very splashy here, while the DX was
peaking erratically, otherwise, not too strong.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

No offense taken - we have all been at this hobby a long time.
Is good to clear the air occasionally.

Thanks, Rick. WCHS might be tough with WIBW to contend with, but KWOS isn't
that much of a problem down here--and anyway, I'd be nulling it to try for WV.

My apologies to the list and especially to Colin. I thought I'd
pulled the address to the list out of this, and apparently I
didn't. Please delete, however much I know that you can't.

Randy, two come to mindWCHS-580 and WBES-950, both in Charleston. Problem
you have at your location is that WIBW covers 580 fairly well at night, and
KWOS in Jeff City is shooting a lobe almost right in your direction. But those
are probably going to be your best bets.

I had my first TP receptions of the season this morning.
The SDR recording revealed the following:

1566HLAZ, Japanese talk and choir fair 1246
I also had carriers on 594 693 and 1575.

Even for a DX test, I don't think I have any audio files exceeding 2 mb.
Most of mine are Less than 1 mb.
For MW DX purposes it really doesn't gain anything to use. I usually record
at 64kbit; 24kHz because I use the same recording jobs for FM as well. For
AM, 32kbit, 12kHz ought to be enough.
Google Groups typically can accommodate attachments but I haven't pursued
what the max is. Even as a user,
I'm concerned about privacy with Google. But is definitely more cumbersome
for moderators.

Glad you got a definite ID on my this, Glenn. I have had WWVA here in southwest
Missouri in years past with Tulsa nulled, but at most a couple of times.
Now--can anyone suggest any targets whose transmitters really ARE within WV
that get out well to the west?

That I bet is because they are not DX clips but lengthy air checks.
I think you are the corner case and need a different solution.

Agreed - 300k would be an awesome upper limit because you could attach PDF's
and screen grabs and MP3's -
And *drum roll* - I am inspired enough by this burst of interest (it is the
dawn of
DX season after all...) to kick-start the "IRCAonline.com" project in one
way or another...
maybe something
I too like the idea of *short* MP3 clips. For a DX list, that's all that's
needed. For longer, program files, like Paul likes to post, an alternative
site works better. My favourite postings are those from a DXpedition
accompanied by short MP3 clips. 73, Walt

** U S A. 1170, Sept 3 at 0255 UT, I find that IBOC-less KFAQ Tulsa unusually
has heavy QRM from a gospel huxter in English, and making SAH of 80/minute =

Agree with Chuck - putting eggs in one basket is kind of a bad idea.
I ran up a Beta IRCAonline.com website for 6 - 8 months

But a thousand solutions means there is no centralized place for recordings..
Someone mentioned Guy Atkins' site as being good. Well, it was good. But it
went away many years ago. We don't want to rely on 1 person - again we need a

I would NOT recommend Yahoo Groups. First, the turmoil with Yahoo at a
corporate level doesn't guarantee that Yahoo Groups ( or even mail ) will
be around for the long haul. Second, Yahoo has and has had regular problems

I will say soundcloud is real easy. If you have an audio file you want to

upload it, give it a title ,description and click save. will take you less
then 5 mintues.. and i could teach my somewhat computer litterate mother

Being Labour Day, it was only appropriate that digging out
