Regarding auroral conditions, I've seen a rare condition about 4 times
(roughly once a year) where TA stations get a huge boost when the
auroral conditions are dying down and the K index is down to 4 or 5.
The boost is possibly 20 db and lasts as little as 30 minutes. So the
dial is full of h
As everyone else has observed, a real clunker for TPs. A couple of
island stations provided the only audio today (which wasn't much):
738 TAHITI Vocal by a man at 1302. The bad conditions seemed to reduce
the splatter from 740.
1098 V7AB MARSHALL ISLANDS Bits of music noted at 1128.

Great catches! I've been reading about everybodys experience with this auroral
cx. I remember we toured KIRO 710 studio during the 2002 IRCA Convention. The
manager seemed very DXer friendly and showed us a binder containing all the
reception reports he had received. ms

Yes, I listened after 14:00 and it was dismal. 612 was poor. And that
was about it! 73,...Walt

Hi Guys:
More Great Conditions on the AM-BCB this past week including a Nice Auroral
Opening last night, and this morning. This report also has some good Western
Conditions including only my 2nd Log from Washington State. I made about 20
Recordings on the 1/2 Hour during the Aurora Opening an
I might as well have been looking at Walmart shelves prior to Hurricane
Katrina...
Nothing there either.
I think - if I read the NHP Fish barrel right, today was WORSE than
yesterday.

Bill and Steve seem to have come away with the most Asian DX this morning as
the auroral shutdown continued for a second day here. Only a couple of ghostly
Asian carriers showed up on 1053 and 1566 around 1330 UTC, but they fizzled
pretty quickly. Of course the plentiful DU-DX reports have yet t
Like my northern neighbor Bill, I too only heard one TP this morning,
774 Japan--not even 1566 HLAZ was strong enough to produce audio the
several times I checked.

It was not a good morning to listen for far away signals. With the increased
geomagnetic activity and a local thunderstorm, only a weak het on 1098 kHz was
audible at 1036, fading away by 1120. I hope it's better at your QTH.
