Good luck DXing in Kona, Colin.
Ruth and I plan a trip to the same area in early April, so I'll be watching
your reports with interest-- and vicariously enjoying your ULR transoceanic
DXing.

Paul, I'm surprised that JOWF Sapporo is not booming into Galena, as it

Wow, nice and unbelievable at the same time! It's hilarious how a station
can get out only a few miles locally at night but be heard 700 or 800 miles
away clearly.
There are two stations in the clip - 1440 AFN Daegu, 5kw in Chilgok, and
1440 AFN Osan in Pyeongtaek, 1kw. These are the only two

Asian big guns between 1300-1330UT, then a very slight lift closer to 1600UT
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

Reasonable audio at times during the period (

Listen to the clip carefully. There seems to me to be several AFN stations
audible, all slightly out of sync. PAL lists 3 in Korea. My suspicion is
that we're hearing all 3. In Masset, I have very occasionally heard
similar, slightly out of sync transmitters on 1575, when programming is in

Colin, as we continue to have really cold temperatures (Arctic outflow),
we're all very envious of you! Let the DX start rolling in for you!

Thanks, Michael.
Many (if not most) of the original participants in the 2008 Ultralight Radio
boom were Canadians (Rob Ross, Allen Willie, Colin Newell, etc.), and most are
still very active in the hobby. Without their leadership the effort would never
have gotten off of the ground.

I have some antenna wire that a DXing friend of mine (Chuck Mitchell,

working well, and I've not found a better wire, and over time the longer
pieces keep getting used and reused and s
