Was rather busy over the Christmas holidays, so my morning listening was
somewhat sporadic (and lacking in results when I did get to it). Today
was the first day of late with any life:

We could always DX the CODAR stations. I'm sure they'll be encroaching
on the AM band any time now
Sorry - I consider CODAR my nemesis. I've asked some of the SDR folks to
come up with a way to filter them out. It's "theoretically possible".

BTW, great link, Steve, on what the AM

Les, I often catch myself wondering about what the MW band would sound like
here IF -- and this is just a hypothetical situation , mind you -- all of the
AM stations in Canada and the U.S. were to permanently go silent. Will Mexican
stations stay on? If THOSE go off, will AM stations in Centra
What a difference a day makes! Much better signals from Asia and a return
of some DU activity. A marked dawn enhancement noted. China was coming in
well especially at dawn. Domestic stations were also strong negating some
of the stronger TP activity. Had fun on 972 with HLCA fading down exposing

Patrick,
True enough. I just turned 55, and I’m just hoping that enough analog signals
will remain to last my lifetime. Can’t imagine a world without radio to DX. The
Chinese have a saying, “Make friends with change.” I’ve lived long enough to
see the wisdom in that.
I can say that radio has
Thanks for the vicarious Kona TP-DXing thrills, Colin. I feel honored

All Korean and China from 540 through around 1053 and then the band drops off

Pretty much audio on every channel (excluding ones with local Hawaiian

A week into the new year and yet no TP signals have been heard. This morning,
there were occasional traces of a signal on 1566 kHz (HLAZ?) from 1251 GMT

Les,
You are so right there. But with us DXers dying out and few young people to
take over, I doubt another 20 years there will not be any left. Maybe in Ham or
SWBC circles. But even SWBC is dying out as so many stations only stream now or
on FM. I am so happy I got started in the 60s. With o

Never received a reply here either, even though I even sent an e mail report
with an attachment, as well as a snail mail one with a CD, just in case they
could not open the attachment. QSLs are harder to get here, even e mail reports
go unanswered.
