Nick,
In the early 80's? China was heard often in the SF Bay Area during the fall
season. A NRC 4' foot loop worked well in my 1 bedroom apartment in Albany, CA.
At work one morning around 5:00 AM, I placed a RCA Super Radio against a
vertical steel I-beam and China 1040

I agree, but the initial 'budget' did not seem to be $500.

Think of what a half decent radio cost in the '60s and '70s relative to the
money of the day.
$300 minimum for a competent National, Hammarlund, Hallicrafters, or Collins in
1967 is at least $2200 now.

So, with 1YA now on 756where are the mid-USA loggings, hi?
I guess splatter, noise etc. might account for it, but older DXers
not being up before sunrise might have an effect also. Still,
that's what SDRs are for.
Good luck to any that try.
best wishes,
Nick

I logged 1YA-760 Auckland NZ from Lawrence KS one May MM at local sunrise

out during my 10 minute recording. Just happened to come across the QSL
