I'm far from specialist, but I guess for a relatively short wire 4:1
would be better.

Hi all - after reviewing the options I've ordered a Sangean PR D15 to
use with the FSL. I had narrowed it down to the Tecsun 660 or 880, the
Sangean, the CCrane 2E, and the Sony EX5MK2 and based on weak signal
handling capability decided on the Sangean. In second place was the
analog dial Sony,
It seems to be R. Kiribati after all, //1440 kHz per New Zealand web
receiver.

Hi Craig - I didn't know you could use LMR400 with the Wellbrook amp
units. I'd seen it done with the W6LVP loop on a website somewhere but
thought that it was unique to that unit. If you do end up giving it a
try I would really be interested in hearing how it works out. I'm really

Hi Mauno - that's good advice, thanks - part of our reason for moving

PS - would you use a 4:1 or 9:1 transformer?

Hi Everyone,
Yes, indeed I am alive and well. As Bill stated, something in the neighborhood
has shown up in the past few years that really knocks out the dial. I feel it
is not the power lines, but something else. Even though the area has
underground power, there are still neighbors close eno

There’s not a lot to be heard in East Asia on 1584, at least nothing of
significant power. There are two 10kw stations in China and only one is within
usual range of you. You have the Heilongjiang station that is Korean-language
and then you have three 1kw stations in South Korea (two were norma
This was the 1440-Kiribati sign off routine at 0929 UTC on April 11th of this
year, as recorded in Kona, Hawaii. The station has a distinctive 1000 Hz tone
at the end of transmission around 0936, which cuts through QRM like a DXer's
dream. This recording helped a DXer in Japan ID the station for
Yairs.. sometime in March 2011.

Thank you Bill for that update. Fingers crossed we'll see his reports real
soon. At 69 and 50 years in the hobby I have similar problems in hearing new
stuff. I started out with Mad Daddy "chasing those blues and Scooby doos" on

Pat, has did very little DXing in the last few years due to a very high noise
level. Also he has been in one location for a long time and it was getting very
hard to hear anything new.
