There are very -- very few Digital stations assigned to the lower channels -- from 2 to 6. The FCC allowed TV stations to pick which channel they wanted to use - after moving to digital in 2009. Most TV engineers want to stay away from the low end problems. Only time will tell -- .

The FCC will allow -- and has allowed -- a former 3 letter call sign station -- to re-use their call sign. KPAT (1400) Berkley, CA was allowed to re-use KRE. KIOT- AM -- 1260 could ask for KYA - AM. But do not count on it. IHR already owns KWG in Stocton.
