Rather poor TP morning hear. Only real audio was noted from Japan on 774,
though in general the top end of the band was best in terms of stronger
carriers, with 1593, 1566, and 1557 being on the verge of audio at times.
With the lack of audio I was left with watching the carriers on the

If I ignore the anomoly of the 2 Koreans showing up at 1655 yesterday,
today was a bit better for TPs than yesterday. Apart from the big gun
Japanese I also heard audio on from Korea on 972 (at a more conventional
time) and 1566, and also CNR1 China on 1593. Signals faded rapidly this

After having little success earlier with TPs on MW I'd been doing some
listening on 60 metres, then returned to MW for a quick check of
domestics. The station on 970 was being being bothered by a het, and
lo and behold I found audio on 972. A quick check of the band found
audio also on 1134.
I would concur with the opinions of others that it was a poor TP
morning. Only audio noted was on 594 and 693 (both poor), and 774
(which was fair at 1505 sign off.

My listening period this morning was very similar to that of Dennis,
from 1400 to 1510. TP conditions, while not top notch, were certainly
decent, so I was quite surprised when I checked WWV and found the K
index was 5.
The big gun Japanese were all in nicely, though 594, 693, and 747 all

Certainly not much happening here in Alberta this morning. No TP audio
at all, and only very modest carriers. A fair number of DU carriers,
but the only one that reached audio was on 567. The low band seemed
favoured once again. Did hear TP carriers after 0700 last night, but
certainly no au
In spite of all the indicators looking good, conditions were definitely
down this morning, with much less audio than yesterday. The big Japanese
were in OK, but of the second tier only 1179 did well. From China only
1206 and 1089 reached audio, neither that strong. One mystery was a

This morning wasn't up to yesterday's standard, but still not bad. The
Chinese that were doing so well yesterday had completely vanished today,
with even 1206 only managing a moderate carrier. All the action seemed
to be Japanese, much like Nov 2nd. Only non-Japanese audio heard was

I'd have to rank this morning as one of the best of the season here in
Alberta. For the first time I managed to note a carrier on every split
channel from 531 to 1602, even on a few that are extremely rare (like 1161
- usually too much KSL, and 1476). The Japanese were doing well again

Things were definitely down on yesterday here, and what was left was
purely Japan. The big guns were all in, though 747 and 828 both faded
out for a while. Also noted Japan on 531 (doing quite well), 567, 666,
954, 1134, and 1242. Korean and Chinese noted yesterday were entirely

Definitely a morning worth listening to hear in Alberta, at least on
the lower half of the dial. Carriers from one end to the other, and
many strong, but no audio heard above the Chinese station on 1206 (not
even 1566). All the Japanese big guns produced good audio (though 693

Pretty dismal conditions here. It was very nearly a complete blank here
for audio, but managed to hear a few words in Japanese on 774, 828 and
1179 just prior to sunrise. Then a couple of moments later, the Aussie on
738 reached audio level for a brief moment.

I'd intended on stopping out at the beverage site before going to work
today but (luckily?) slept in. Checking the band at home things were
very poor. Only the strongest Japanese had any sign of audio, and there
wasn't much of that.

Conditions here were much like yesterday, early promise, but the end
result was mediocre at best. If anything the early promise was better
than yesterday, with all kinds of decent carriers even before 1200, but
the levels had dropped considerably by 1300, with then only a very modest
rise prior to
Here in Alberta things are still quite a way from normal, but I'd have to
agree with Colin's assessment, "better than yesterday by a long shot".
I was grateful to hear any TP audio after the last few days, so even
594/693/747/774/828 were welcome to the ears. Only other audio was the

With the A and K at zero I thought it would be a good morning for a
trip to the beverage site. The solar indices weren't the only numbers
that were low, as it was -7C out there, the coolest morning of fall
thus far. Apparently you guys on the coast were sucking all the

Given the good solar indices this morning was certainly a disappointment.
Lackluster, the word Walt used, was certainly a good description.
Virtually all signals were down on yesterday. Unlike Walt's experience,
it was about an even split here between TPs and DUs. On the TP side only

My first morning back after being away, and sounds like quite the morning
out on the coast. Here in Alberta it was certainly a good morning, but by
no means the best of the season. It was unusual in that both TPs and DUs
were coming in at the same time, which is quite rare here.

I'm out of town currently, so wasn't able (perhaps fortunately) to check
the bands this morning, but it sounds like maybe for once my trip won't
coincide with a great opening. Hopefully by the time I get back to the
radio on Tuesday things will have recovered.

Yesterday's "ho-hum" was looking pretty good this morning! Absolutely no
trace of any TP audio today, with all reception being DU.
Did note some good signals from down there, with DU audio on 531, 549, 639

Not as good here as yesterday morning. The upper frequencies were again
the best, but they couldn't manage the audio they did yesterday. Perhaps
a few words on 1566, but otherwise just strong carriers. Lower channels
were pretty well non-existent. On the other hand, good reception from

Much the same noted here, the top end was by far the best, with audio
noted around 1315 on 1566, 1575 (quite good at times) and 1593. As Bill
observed, I also found it the best conditions for a while. Had wondered
if it was because I'm listening from Lamont at the moment, but perhaps
not, given
Well, given the numbers today we certainly didn't expect any TA's tonight,
but once again the Russian on 1215 has come through with audio. Other
than momentary traces on 1179 Sweden and 1134 Croatia that's been it for
audio. Lots of carriers though, including multiple ones on several
frequencies.
Thanks guys for the quick responses. The best I could get on the FM
frequency was xx3.1, though if my Spanish was better I could likely get
the whole thing. That would seem to eliminate KLLK as their FM is 96.7
MHz. If anyone would like to have a listen to the mp3 file let me know

While playing with the new SDR-IQ I ran across a Spanish language station
on 1250. Since I normally hear KWSU, KKDZ, or CHSM at night this has me
puzzled. I noted an ID mentioning FM and AM frequencies at 0600 UTC (10
pm PST), but if there's a callsign there I sure can't hear it. Any
suggestion
Thought I should mention for the record that the KKMO test was heard here
quite well, as expected. Some interference from a station playing 70's
tunes, but generally KKMO was on top.

What a change a day makes. After a good TP morning yesterday, today I
heard no TP audio at all. I heard a fair number of carriers, but I'm sure
most of them were of DU origin. Only audio noted was a weak 4BC on 1116.

Sorry we weren't able to share the signals Walt! The TA's are well down
now at 0540, but at 0500 we were hearing a mix of Virgin and the Russian
on 1215 at a pretty fair level. Audi
Plenty of carriers noted here tonight, and hearing some good Russian audio
on 1215 as I type this (@0322). Also traces on 1134.

Looks like it's probable that KIGO is the one that's off frequency. A
quick check this afternoon showed a Spanish language station running on
the order of 300 Hz high. Unfortunately they faded out at ID time, but
that's generally what I hear in Spanish on 1420.

Noted the best TP morning of 2008 thus far today. Heard audio on 594,
693, 774, 972, 981, 1044, 1089, 1134, 1143, 1206, 1566, and 1593 at
various times between 1430 and 1530. The most interesting catch was
1143, which had music at the time, and faded before any possible talk.

Don tells me my messages go out, even if I can't see incoming mail, so

For reasons unknown, I'm not seeing any incoming mail on my ISP's webmail

It wasn't a great morning overall, but it certainly wasn't a bad one
either. The regular big gun Japanese were there, plus audio on 558,
presumably JOCR. It was a pretty fair morning
