Mike,
I have the old 1070 &1200 both QSLd from St. Albert. Looking through so
many Canadian QSLs, it is hard to believe how many are gone now. There
will be many more to go I am sure too. I am glad I have most heard &

Yes, I forgot about 1110. Then there was 1070 and later 1200 for
Alberta.
And I too had forgotten all about St Albert. With CJXX and CFGP being less
than a 100 miles away, it will be a long time before I forget them as they
both still exist on FM. As too does CFMG, tho at around 300 miles I don'
Yes, the old 840 Grande Prairie. Both Grande Prairie's disappeared from
AM, both 840 & 1050. Retuning a transmitter for a new frequency is
fairly easy to do, so the transmitters could end up anywhere. At the
cost of a new transmitter, I can imagine that used ones in good contion
would be in demand.

I would think so based on the number of 50kw grants on regional

Pat, no one took over 1110 when CHQT moved to 880 either.

Believe the station was in Ontario? When I noticed the listing,
there were no bids on the transmitter.

I wouldn't be surprised to see or hear that both the CFFX and CBA transmitters
have been sold to one or more US Broadcasters. I would keep my ears open, if
you know what I mean. Mike

Was 740 in Toronto run from the old CBC site or a new location? That one
did return, as did 690 and 940 in Montreal. I am sort of expecting someone
will file for the 1070 Sackville allocation.
Mike,
I have no idea what they do with the old transmitters. Maybe they sell
them to another station? 50 KW transmitters would be in demand, I would
think.
Buy one and have a 50 KW pirate. hi.
But once the station shuts down, I don't think they return, unless
another group gets the channel.

Hey Patrick, Your post got me thinking. what ever happened to the CFFX 960
and CBA - 1070 -- main transmitters ?? Do you think that one or more have
been returned to the air ?? Maybe on the same frequency ?? mike
