It looks like I am lucky as the noise level here in Arizona is very low. When I left Portland 11 years ago the noise level was very high and very little could be heard but its a lot different here in Arizona with the low noise level. I have talked to Hams and they also say that the noise

I couldn't agree more with what this article says. Also, Les, you're right on the mark concerning fixes; they won't (and probably can't) happen. Unfortunately, solid state and digital devices are inherent noise generators and now that these are out of Pandora's Box, there's no putting them

Les, I think that most of us have considered the same option of salvaging what's left of the hobby. DXing from home for most of us is a lost cause. Remote DXing may very well be the wave of the future, or for those of us lucky enough to own rural properties, another option. I treasure my times
