It can't be WHIT. They have never carried HSFB, and they never
intentionally stay on past sunset. Besides, I have been paying attention to 1550
tonight and they are not there. I am not hearing HSFB on 1550 tonight either.

I am reminded by multiple sources (including the new NRC AM Log) that CBE
is scheduled to go off the air today, Friday 9/30. Does anybody know if this
is still the case, and if so is there any special programming planned for
CBE's sign-off?

The transmitter will go off at midnight EDT tonight (0400 UTC).
Also, I just found out from the host of the Windsor afternoon drive time
show, Bob Steele, that they will be running a

Then what about this CRTC decision, issued today under streamlined procedures?

One more update: the interference issues with CBEW-FM were caused by a pirate
in the Detroit area, which has been shut down, so there was no need to
postpone the shutdown of CBE.
The segment about the shutdown aired on CBE at about 1750. They used the
audio from this TV story (mind the wrap):
I think it's WHIT that's still on with high school football. Didn't
listen long enough for an ID but it's in the same general direction as
Windsor.
With CBE running 10KW once the game is over I should have a good shot at
catching it.

Here in PA, it's been a battle between CBE, WDLR-OH (regional Mexican
format) and new Avenue 1550 WZRK-WI (with oldies, and sounding amazing for
1 watt!) throughout the evening.

CBE-1550 Windsor ON has applied to the CRTC to move to FM (97.5 MHz,
3.2 kW, 130.1 meters)
with a second transmitter at Leamington ON 991.5 MHz, 6.1 kW, 58.7

This will replace the never implemented nested FM relay on 102.3 MHz.

There goes my last firm grip on CBC on medium wave.
Is the frequency going dark or will someone else take it over?

Here in the West, we still have plenty of CBC service, CBU-690, CBX-740,
CBR-1010, CBK-540, CBW-990, and CFPR-860. Plus I get CBXQ-540 (LPRT from
Vancouver Island).

The West doesn't include Southern California. I haven't heard Canada from
here since the last two Canadian frequencies (1040 and 1200) became
occupied
quite a number of years ago. CKST made it down here pretty well.

more than once.
