Dave,
Those are good questions about impedance matchers. There are a couple
of articles of mine (with Lowfer Guru Bill Bowers) on rolling your
own impedance matching unhits... they cover all of your questions and
are on the IRCA reprint disks, I believe. They are also available at

David,
I use Amidon ferrite beads to make my transformer. I also use military
commo wire to feed my rx antenna's. Here is how Gary Breed, the K9AY
loop inventor describes making the transformer:
"My K9AY Loop and 9:1 Beverage transformers are "binocular" using two large

Barry,
I found a description of Paul's set-up:
"I'm using an AOR AR7030 receiver with a EWE antenna approx (since I've
never actually measured it ) 3.5 m high and 8 m long. KVNS is a
reasonably frequent visitor here."

Barry,
Paul Crankshaw of Troon, Scotland, does a lot of heavy duty MW dxing to the
U.S. using a modest ewe. Perhaps he can share his set up with you. I
searched the old files and couldn't find his parameters.
Good luck.

Hi;
I have been reading lots about the construction of EWE antennas over the
past few days. I understand the need for a good ground, terminating
(variable) resistors and so on. What I'm less clear about is the
ferrite ring / balun / transformer. Where can you get these at? Does
anyone have par
