Intrigued by the recent postings about MW DXing with Sony Walkmans, I
went out and purchased a Sony SRF-59 for about $20 at a local store here in
Puyallup, WA. Although it has an analog design like I wanted, I certainly
didn't have much hope for its DX

You folks in the great NW demonstrate over and over the top three factors of
successful TP DXing:
1)location 2-3) see #1. Just keep rubbing it in about all those TPs. I

not the best last night, so I am eager to see how this tiny analog DX radio

It wouldn't come up this afternoon, but the upgrades
are mostly for FM. But the radio does
Dr. Xin also comments on the AM sensitivity. He likes the SRF M-59, 83 and
M-35V for MW sensitivity. He attributes performance to Sony's proprietary
IC and Sony's secretiveness about it--like Coca Cola recipe. As far as
unmodified performance, the M-35V, performs the best, according to him.
