While sitting on 710 kHz tonight (12-13 November), I had an interesting radio
experience. At approximately 11:43PM CST (0543 UTC) I heard a signal fading up
to readable levels with a male announcer reading what sounded like either a
news bulletin or an editorial segment. He gave two "En Radio Martí"
pseudo-ID's, and then the signal faded back into the mush. I'm assuming that,
since the time was 12:43 EST, I was hearing the one-hour Radio Martí newscast
on WAQI in Miami.

At approximately 12:01AM CST (0601 UTC) another station started fading in out
of the mush with the distinctive theme music for "Radio Rebelde." Sure 'nuff, I
heard a male announcer say "en Rebelde" over the music. This must have been the
frequently-reported CMW La Julia outlet of Radio Rebelde.

Hmmm ... Radio Martí and Radio Rebelde on the same frequency and on the same
night. A clash of ideologies, don't you think?

BTW - KGNC Amarillo was weaving its way through the other two stations, too!
