Pat:
Several years ago I heard Norway on 1314 well over an hour before local
sunset here. Throughout January and December local sunset is shortly after
16:00 MDT or 23:00UTC, so I was hearing Kvitsoy around 22:00.

Yeah you're right there Pat. The further north one goes, the longer the TA
window is open. I remember Brian Vernon's reports from the 70's or 80's when
he was working up in the Yukon at a mine there, of TA's and TP's he could
hear 24/7. As you say, amazing stuff. Even on the shortest day of the
Mike,
Yes, I remember the reports from Brian Vernon. Do you know what happened
to him? I have not heard anything about him in years. In Seward AK, we
had 5 hr 28 min of daylight in the mid Winter. Germany 1586 (now 1593)
was common up there in the Winter.

Has anyone on the West coast heard a TA station from 1400-1500 ? Seems like
it could be possible with the sun setting in Europe and still dark here. I
guess last season would have been the time to try.

Nick Hall-Patch and I heard Norway one winter
The earliest I have heard a TA was in the mid 90s when I logged Germany
on 972. As I remember Norway 1314 was also in. It was about UTC. I
was using 800' Northern beverage.
