Dennis,
Yes, it seems like KFI's signal is up about 10-15 DB more than before.
With the old tower, I generally would hear them year around, if not a
carrier in mid Summer, but I don't know if the signal is that good now.
It does not seem that good.

Hello,
Received today a nice thank e-mail from retired KFI Chief engineer Marvin
Collins.
He appreciated the KFI recording and report. Thanks Scott for the heads up
on the new antenna.

Pat,
I think your 10 db gain with the new antenna is on the mark.
Being on the coast you might be able to hear KFI 24 hrs a
day in the winter. I should be able to hear them from 4 pm to
8 am during December, that's 16 hours a day. In the mid
90's I would listen to the "Mr. KFI show" on
Dennis,
How much stronger do you find KFI now compared to before? It seems they
have gained about 10 DB here I would guess. I wonder as it gets towards
Winter more, if I will hear them all day?

Pat,
At 1326 utc KFI 640 kHz signal here on the NW ewe is S-9 with the
tuner off. KNX 1070 is S-9+20. Sunrise in LA is 1345 utc this morning.

Dennis,
At 0130 PDT. KFI is S9+12 off the SW EWE, but there is a nasty het from
Fiji 639. In USB no het though. KNX is S9+10 DB, so KFI is stronger.

Pat,
The ewe is down, it was with the H-800 and palstar tuner tuned
to 640 kHz. With the ewe antenna on the ground and connected
to the JRC 545, the signal is S-9 with the tuner on bypass. It's S-9+30db
on the H-800 without the tuner. Fence antenna is S-9+10db without the
tuner.
Dennis
Dennis,
What is the KFI signal on your EWE? With your H-800 antenna and Palstar,
you have a lot of amp boost. Here I am getting S9+5 off the SW EWE, with
no amp in in line. Maybe 5 DB or so better, but it may be a bit weaker
than on the old tower, but it has been so long ago, I cannot remember.

Good Evening,
Just sent Mr. Collins a audio clip of KFI 640 kHz. The signal
at the time of recording was S-9+40db. Using the JRC 545
H-800 and Palstar tuner tune to 640 kHz.
Signal has been dropping to S-9+20 db, with a little noise
present. Time was 7:34 P.M. PDT.
Dennis,
Salmon Creek,
I'm hearing KFI but it is very weak. With their old tower, it may have
been better. But with the 1150 site, I never heard it until near LSS.
KFI used to be a regular up here 24/7 most of the year with their old
tower. Only a carrier in like June/July, but there. By Sept, I would
have had audio all

Scott,
Thanks for the information on KFI. Will give them a listen
and try and hear the tail end of the "John & Ken" show.
Hopefully with the antenna back up again I will be able to
hear the Bill Handle show latter in the morning.
