Powell,
The reason I made the "X Band" comment about KOHI, is I have no idea
what the FCC might or might not do. Not having a direct connection with
broadcasting any longer, I had no clue. That is why people like myself
depend on your insight. Since many decided not to build their X Band
station,
KOHI used to have a "Good" C&W local sound. Not canned. When Forrie
Smith owned it, the station was local. Forrie worked on the air there
for years. I think he still has or had? a program recently. He sold the
station (Volcano Broadcasting) as he was burned out. Forrie is probably
50ish now. But ca
That's exactly what I said Powell. Accent Radio Network is boring and
uninteresting.. the network is only on stations in 3 cases:
A.) Stations that are owned by the network
2.) Stations Owned by friends
3.) Stations they pay for the time on.

Paul,
True, the FCC is not oking any new CPs for the X Band. It was just a
comment. KOHI has always had an issue with QRM, but since the tower
move, their signal is weaker so the QRM is worse, plus Blaine WA is now
on 1600. KOHI has always suffered from QRM from Eugene, even going back

KOHI seems to come up for discussion on this list often. And when the
station does get discussed, it's the same topics about KOHI repeated over
and over again.
We've already discussed in previous threads about KOHI moving to another
frequency, there isn't any room... and as it has been said on thi

What KOHI needs is a freq with less QRM, but I doubt they will move.

How about a move to X Band? Moving to 1700 would not too hard to do, if
allowed by the FCC. No QRM on 1700 to speak of.

Mike & Paul,
Thanks for the information on KOHI.

I will listen on-line to the morning show.
Marty claims 400 listeners have heard KOHI

2,500 or 1,500 watts would be nice.
Anymore would probably ruin 1593 & 1603.

Dennis,
I remember talking with the owner back in the 70s and they wanted to
serve NW Portland better. But they would have to deal with KOPT with a
pattern like that.
I wonder if KOHI could get a slight power boost? Maybe not 5 KW, but
2500 watts or 1500 watts?.

Pat,
Just checked the BC map and KVRI-KOHI-KOPT are lined up
in a North to South line. If KOHI had the money they could set
up two or three antennas and put out a West to East signal. KXTA
Utah is Southeast of KOHI at 650 miles. A KOHI with
directional antennas could get an increase in powe

Too bad KOHI cannot get a location like they used to have on Columbia

went downhill.

Gary & Dennis,
Most of today (when I popped in and out), checking the dial, found KOHI
pretty much in a jumble of KOPT and others. KOHI was not normal signal

This morning, in a mini-shootout between the ICF-2010 and the
"hot-rodded" SRF-39FP around 11:45 AM, KOPT and KARI were fighting it out on

with no sign of KOHI. KOHI usually has a fair daytime signal here (100 air

I used to run Accent Radio Network programming on WABV. Let's put it this

The only stations ARN is on are either owned by the network (KNAK 540, Delta
UT) or owned by friends (KHQN 1480 Spanish Fork, UT... WTWB 15

Paul,
I agree with you about the Accent Network. Sometime
give a listen on-line to the local morning show on KOHI. It's
10 AM-12 PM EST. It's a kick.

that he still has about 8 hoops to jump through to get the antenna

And the cost to put up another tower, install a phasor, put in a ground

Especially with that god awful Accent Radio Network programming theyre
running .. its boring and horrid.

On Feb 15,
What KOHI really needs is a power boost, but with so much traffic on
1600 and nearby, they would have to put up at least another tower to go
directional probably.
Eugene-1600, 100 miles away runs 5 KW, Then Tillamook-1590, 70 miles
away, plus everyone else.

I hope their coverage does improve by this move. Their old QTH on
Columbia River Hyw was much better in coverage back in the 50s/60s/70s,
and into the 80s.

If they get an increase in coverage, good thing.. but as Powell said, higher

hurting it.

Good Morning:
Received a letter from Marty, the owner of KOHI this morning.
KOHI has approval from the Columbia country fair board to
move their antenna to the fair grounds. This should help their signal
cover the county better. A higher elevation than there current location.
