KOMO-1000, a 50kw news/talk station in Seattle, has been running with an ugly 60-cycle hum recently which I found to be very obnoxious while listening to it with earphones as I worked out. I E-mailed them about it on Sunday citing the fact that is was unbecoming an otherwise quality operation. By Tuesday it was clean. I'm not sure why it was allowed to persist in the first place but this does show that there still are people out there who care about AM audio quality and also that big stations can move fast.
