Joe,
Actually... the "noise" was a buzz and is being heard throughout the AM
band... not just on 1550. I'm pretty sure one of my "neighbors" has
acquired/activated something new recently and I'll have to track it down.

Phil,
In my ever so humble opinion, I think you might very
well have heard KXTO. The QRSS signal was indeed Morse
Code but slowed down to where the dits were 10 seconds
long, and the dahs were 30 seconds. If the "buzz" is
at audio 2500 Hertz, and since you were pointing in
that direction. I know,
Paul & all,
CX have not been the best the part couple of night. Today the A:14 and
K:2, so still a bit high.

KXTO test was not heard "live" by me here in N Seattle WA (Drake R-7/KIWA
loop). Tried Saturday AM at 1AM and 4AM PLT... Sunday AM at 1,2 and 4 AM
PLT from TOH to 10 minutes past. All mp3 recorded so I'll give another
listen this week just in case I was too sleepy to catch it "live", hi.

Les,
What you heard on 1550 was not a Wobbler, that was Cuban jamming of
WRHC Coral Cables. This has been going on since 9/9/6 when I first
heard and reported it.
The jammer does sound somewhat like a Wobbler but upon closer
inspection it will be found to be audio impressed on a steady carrie
Both 7/14 & 7/15 1550 was covered by local KYCY programming Jimi Hendrix
style music & XEGM Tijuana with Mexican pop music.
On 7/14 about 0105 PDT I 'thought' I heard a short series of very high
pitched tones cutting through the loud music.
On 7/15 shortly after 0100 PDT I 'thought' I heard some
No luck hearing the test here in Alabama either. Miami station (Coral Gables)

Haven't seen any reports of anyone logging the test yet. We'll hope for better

Like Don Kaskey, I'm hearing a Spanish language station on 1550 kHz. Been
listening on the frequency for the last four nights from midnight on, a total
of maybe five hours. No ID on the station I hear only occasionally, and
definitely nothing that would indicate any station testing. The distance
