I've done some more thinking about my personal feelings related to
Ultra-Terminology. Like a lot of things, there are quite a few
viewpoints on our terminology and quite a bit of merit in many of
them. I do think that Colin is right to be concerned about this
issue for use in FORMAL communications. I'm sure that he would agree
that, in informal chatter on this group or elsewhere, any of us have
the privilege of calling these little pocket weasels anything that we
want... or at least anything that will pass in semi-polite company
and be understood by others.

However, Colin's point is well taken when you consider that this new
addiction to pocket weasels is poised to jump the oceans to Europe,
Africa and quite possibly Down Under. Our DXer buddies in South
Africa quite likely have a completely different mental image spring
to mind when one uses the term "pocket weasel."

In formal communications (like the Firsts and Records List itself)
I'm going to make sure that the word "Radio" is fairly tightly
attached to "Ultralight." The List is now titled: "Ultralight MW
Radio DXing FIRSTS AND RECORDS."

In my informal chatter, I'm gonna continue to refer to these little
darlings as "UltraLights" or "Pocket Weasels" or "Pocket Rockets."
However, I will try very hard not to use the term "Hand Job," since I
do try to maintain some standards of decorum.
