Hey steve...
Do you have any info on Lax air 530? It fades up in the muck of stations around
sunset. Call letters, power?? It's amazing how many stations are on that
channel not forgetting the stuff that comes across the water.

Ouch Dennis,
I have a few pests myself that make DXing a bit of a challenge at times.
KXRB 1000 10KW /100Wt, both directional, 5 miles
KSOO 1140 10KW ND/5KW Dir. 4 miles
KELO 1320 5KW ND/Dir. 3 miles
The directional patterns of those 3 converge in my living room.
Last winter I heard Niel
Closest local here in Grand Rapids is KOZY (1320); their tx is about 7½ miles
from me. Not much of a problem at night (I've been able to null them to hear
KELO and WILS in the past). Next closest is WNMT (650) Nashwauk, about 30
miles. Worst problems now are digital hash leaking from the DSL
Worst problems now are digital hash leaking from the DSL and in-house
electrical noise thanks to new solid state stuff.
DSL causes noise? I have heard there is no issue with DSL from some
others. Maybe I am stuck with 28.8 dial forever here? Or the 6Gs for
Verizon Wireless? The Cable here

Good catch for KELO, your on a side lobe of their array.
Greg Belfrage does the QSLs there by email. the contact us link on

I've eliminated most of the computer/network generated noise here by
setting a laptop up for internet sharing through the wireless card, no

Mark,
I have lots of satellite gear, 6 different satellite receivers and 4
dishes in the backyard and if you get within 6 feet of the receivers,
they do generate digital hash, but move away, there is no noise.
No noise detected on the R8 from any of the satellite gear 20 feet away.

I'm within a couple of miles of three directional AMs: my own WXXI 1370,
WHTK 1280 (both 5 kW) and WROC 950 (1 kW). A fourth, WHIC 1460, moved to
a different (and more distant) site a few years ago.
It could be worse - I grew up right between the 1460 and 1370 sites,
within a few hundred
The problem for me now is not AM, but FM.
I can see the antenna bays for Class A WJNG 100.5(1300 Watts) and Class B
WKBI 93.9 (2300W) from my backdoor, the tower is only about 2 blocks away.
There's a CP for a non commercial station on the same tower.
