They're pretty much on the opposite bearing to Hawaii, and my loop
antenna has a figure 8 receive pattern.
I wonder if my best chance might be after Arizona sunrise and before
California sunrise? KMIK runs 50kW DA-N, with a huge lobe

So would KUAU (1570?) be my best bet to log my first Hawaiian from a few miles
east of San Diego, CA? Or, would the IBOC from 1580 KMIK be too much

Glad to know others have heard KUAU. But 15KW, I would think they would
be a regular along the coast. I caught them a few times with 1 KW, but
they were not strong.

Yes but I have noticed alot of talk stations do carry him for he was
conservative and had a mixture of talk/old time music. Bottom line who really
knows.
When I go to Hawaii next year maybe then this mystery will be solved!

I am a faithful listener of Bill Pierce (RIP) and nightsounds will be going on
for a very long time.
Alot of these stations are actually linked to KSOH. This is a west coast
station. He is on at 10:00 pacific time. That of course 1 am eastern.
The number on Maui's website is not correct. Radio
Don't count on KUAU 1570 Haiku being what you heard for a few reasons. 1.)
They aren't listed as an affiliate of Nightsounds 2.) Theyre listed on their
own website as Conservative Christian Talk (and have an FM sister that plays
music) and 3.) THey have been listed as silent on and off a few times
I saw the PA station as well, but the problem is that it was at 12:00 UTC on
11 July. Propagation just doesn't fit. Still an unknown to me, but I'm
betting it was Maui.Walt

Walt,
It is very possible you had that PA station as on the upper part of the
band, I have had flea power stations skip here coast to coast,
especially before XERF boosted power.

Anyone know who would be playing the Nightsounds program before and after
12:00 UTC on a Monday (July 11th). I'm listening to my Perseus wav files
from Rose Spit, Haida Gwaii (off northern BC) for 11 July. Their website
shows no one on 1570 except a station in PA. I wondered about KUAU in
Haiku,
