I have not listened to this audio in over 25 years - and it was taken off
air moments
after the Earthquake and the day after. I have over an hour of Amateur
radio band traffic and live KGO stuff within minutes of
Colin,
Thanks for including this in your post. We were there when it happened, looking
down on the fire in the Marina but not really grasping what was happening to
the homes situated on the gelatinous surface. With no AC, we watched what was
going on using our 8” battery operated b TV set.

Excellent question - the VHF links stayed up and were being recorded at the
station - for rebroadcast later.
I have around 1 hour of live ham traffic on 20, 40 and 80 meters. If memory
serves me correctly, they were off for all of or part of 1 evening.
