There is a new Sangean recorder out there that looks interesting. Have to still research it more. Memory is SD card and you would have to manually move it to PC via card readerno USB transfer. But lots of features and low cost.

Tom I have a Marantz PMD620 which I love. It can record countless hours of stuff on a SDHC card and supports various MP3 and WAV coding rates. It has a line input, too. I've been using it mainly to copy old tapes onto MP3, but it could also be used for DX recordings. It's kind of pricey,
