The D-KAZ has a considerably wider back null than the basic single loop KAZ
antenna. For example, with your null at 330 with the D-KAZ you probably
also have good nulls at 300 and 360. These nulls will be better at off
angles than what you'd get using a KAZ as the single loop has a more narrow

Good news on initial VACTROL reports! So proud, yay!

Initial results are outstanding! Excellent nulls and more sensitive than
the SAL-30.
I am planning on rotating the D-KAZ tomorrow to 45/225 and doing more A/B
tests vs the SAL-30. More details soon.

Hi Brandon,
I hope you can give us the good news about how well the D-KAZ works.
I now have a Vactrol setup here from a DX friend that I will try tomorrow
when I get home from work. Hopefully I can learn a lot when compared to my
fixed Rt method. 73 KAZ

Colin's Vactrol arrived today. I have a 140' D-KAZ erected point 150/330 and
should have everything connected in the next few hours. I am initially going
with the null at 330 degrees to compare how well the null for Memphis stations
compare to the SAL-30, at least for groundwave, but swapping

I am probably going to start off aiming for Mexico, but will be able to
rotate the DKAZ around any desired direction rather easily.

They grow fast, so maybe I can use them in years to come.

Brandon, please keep us informed how this goes and what you think of it
once built. What direction will you aim it? 73 KAZ

If you have to use poles then you may want to consider a DKAZ. Here is a
great article by Mark Durenberger that may be of interest:

Hi Patrick,
Could you use tall fiberglass poles / fishing rods for the center point? I
recall seeing photos with the late John Bryant hoisting some delta antenna
with one or two. Maybe I'm dreaming but I think that might be cool and you
can take it down.

I know that’s disappointing, since you were excited about experimenting with
new antennas. But the key thing is that you are safe. We are the ones who are
grateful for that. The hobby wouldn’t be the same without you.
Hope Gary and others in the Northwest are also well.
73,
Les Rayburn,
I can probably forget about building a Super KAZ in the backyard now, unless I
can figure something else out. Tonight we had the 6th strongest Pacific Storm
ever. Hurricane winds. Not quite the monster we had in 2007 for 3 days, but it
was nasty. Gusts out here over 90 MPH. The center tree was
