Hello All,
After over a month, the Chinese eBay seller "Liypn" has finally provided an
English PL-300WT manual in PDF format (which was promised in his eBay
listing originally). I assume that the other DXers who have purchased
PL-300WT's from "Liypn" received the same email today, with the
Hello All,

I compared my PT-300WT with my DT-400W last night and I would say that
my stock PT is about equal, if maybe not just slightly inferior to the
DT-400W. It seemed the PT-300WT was picking up more hets and noise
than the DT-400W, but I heard the same stations at about equal levels
on both radios. I
Hi John,
The possibility of replacing a damaged PL-300WT loopstick with the E100's
loopstick is interesting indeed. They are similar in shape and size, and
both have a single coil.
I'm sure that the E100's loopstick would work just fine in the PL-300WT, as
long as the coil could be set to

What is the possibility of replacing the stock 300WT loopstick with
one removed from the E100??? Especially if someone tried to align
the 300WT and broke the bar or destroyed the coil, a "pulled" part
from an E100 could resurrect the 300WT and might (with special

Hi Pete,
Thanks for your generous comments.
Regarding the AM sensitivity variations in the new Tecsun PL-300WT, an

Hello All,
The first Grundig G8 review on Amazon.com provides some evidence that the
radio may in fact have the same DSP chip as the PL-300WT, despite Eton's
denial of the fact. The description of the G8's operation is identical to how
the DSP chip performs in the PL-300WT, such as the indi

Hello All,
Since there appears to be significant interest in this innovative pocket
radio, I'll try to answer some of the FAQ's in advance, in hopes of
minimizing the commotion on the list reflectors.

Hey Russ:
Yeah, I could see how that could go either way. If DSP is too restrictive
in bandwidth and sounds muffled, then go with traditional filtering in the
Americas. However, the pro for offering a DSP receiver on this side of
the pond would be that having DSP filtering would allow the casual

Hey Paul:
Good question. In looking back, I realized that Grundig has quite a
history of making substantial changes to Tecsun/Degen models, for better
or for worse:
- The G5 is really the 1103 but with better ergonomics, and the two
models look quite a bit different from each other.
- The M400
I am very curious to know whether the Eton Grundig branded G8 is the same as
the Tecsun PL-300WT or not.
If you look closely at photos of the two radios, you will notice that some of
the labels/buttons are different, and of course the quoted weight/dimensions
are different too.
However I find

Hello Russ,
My new PL-300WT was very well aligned (on AM) right out of the box. I have
ordered another unit to check quality control, and will report to the group
about its initial performance when it arrives. The AM alignment procedure
is identical to that of the E100, but if other PL-300W
Hello All,
Only rarely does a manufacturer bring out a new portable model with
excellent AM sensitivity and selectivity in combination, but the Chinese Tecsun
company has apparently managed this design breakthrough in their brand-new
