Pete:
Very well said.
I get lots of email too and its hard for me to follow a discussion if there
isnt any quoted text below.. Im not going to look thru all of my mail
either.

I usually try to quote something of the text.

That's why you quote ONLY the minimum needed to get
the message across. Quoting all or too much in some
lists will AUTOMATICALLY get the posting

my take as a blind person is that it takes me much longer to read email
replies containing quoted text than ones that don't.
Screen readers will generally read everything, even with greater-than signs
preceding the line.
Thus I much prefer the snippet at the bottom of the message, since I only

Like you, I also delete a lot of stuff. In my case it has the whole e

What do the greater than letter sound like? I am

HI, Powell,
I have the greater-than sign turned off for regular reading, but when I move
from line to line through quoted text, it says greater at the beginning of
each line.
In your sig, it just reads the letter n 3 times.

I know we have a few webtv users on this list(well two I know of for
sure)
I know when Patrick from Seaside posts, there is no way to tell who or what
he's rpeying to, as theres no snippets from previous posts. It gets
confusing to follow the discussion when you can't tell whats being replied
Paul,
True, there are Web TV users as myself, but many others don't use
snippets either. That is not a requirement of either list. The subject
line pretty well explains the thread. Infact, I think you are the first
to mention this. But if a person follows the thread, then snippets are
not needed.
Patrick,
Its been mentioned in the past, but I believe (if I remember correctly) that
you don't have a choice with WebTV. The bad things are:
1. Threads morph into something new quite often, so that the email may have
little or nothing to do with the subject line when that happens.
I find it a real nuisance to have to go through quoted text
to get to the message of the message sender. Infact, there
are some poster's who include several header lines as part of
the quoted text and I've gotten to the point when I see a
message from that poster I don't even bother reading
Tom Mike,
I can add the posters e mail along with my response with the NRC list,
but for some reason the set up with the IRCA will not permit me to do
that. It kicks it out. If I try to repost to the IRCA list from Web TV,
it generally does not work, yet it works on the NRC list. Apparently a

Pete,
Not a bad idea. Quite often some e mail posted should only go to the
person. In the case of Joe, he would be the only one needed to know
what it was all about anyway.
