Yep, Russ, it was most likely KBGG that you had. They're ESPN, while the other
all-sports station in Des Moines, KXNO-1460, is Fox Sports, including Jim Rome.

It will not be hard to tell XEPE and KVNS from each other as XEPE is the
strongest station on the dial at times at night. I can hear KVNS but it is
hard to hear.

Two towers that are set up ND. But as you said, they are indeed strong.
