Susan Howard-Azzeh denies the right of the Jewish people to
political self determination and independence. Contrary to her

Howard-Azzeh "forgot" that in 1947 the Arabs rejected the UN
partition plan and then tried to prevent its implementation by military
force, by terror activity from the inside and by the invasion by the
regular armies of five Arab states, from the outside. They failed, but
Israel paid a very heavy price for the victory - 6,000 Israelis lost
their lives. A whole one percent of the total Jewish population at that
time. The war the Arabs started was the cause of the refugee problem.
Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would have been no
refugees and the Palestinian state would have been 57 y old today.
The security fence, yes fence and not wall, as more than 90
percent of it is barbed wire, is there only because of the suicide
murderers and other terror activity.
As for the bombastic statement that the Palestinians are the
world's largest refugee population, one has to remember that 15
millions ethnic Germans were forced out of their homes in Eastern
Europe, that millions of Muslims and Hindus fled from Pakistan and
India in 1948, that millions of Armenian, Greeks, Turks, Finns, and
Kurds, among others, were driven from their lands and resettled
elsewhere during the 20th century.
Howard-Azzeh should ask herself why did not the Palestinians
establish their state in the West Bank and Gaza between 1948 and 1967,
when the territories were under Arab rule. Had they done that and
recognized the state of Israel the war of 1967 would not have occurred
and thousands of lives would have been spared, on both sides.
The only solution to the 100 y old conflict between the two
peoples is the two states solution. But, people like Howard-Azzeh will
never accept it. For them, Israel has no right to exist and has to be
dismantled. But that will remain just their wishful thinking.
