Summary: Make PdxInstanceImplTest a unit test instead of an
integration test

PdxInstanceImplTest had to use the category of IntegrationTest because there
were uses of static singletons buried deep in the code where they could not be
mocked. Modify the code as necessary so that PdxInstanceImplTest uses the
category of UnitTest.
