The file picker problem is gone. Using OpenOffice 4.1 Beta (410m14) I can
choose any JRE folder using either AOO's folder picker or the one provided by
Gnome.

Still a big problem in AOO 4.0.1.
Base via. JDBC under Linux is almost unusable. First you need an ancient jre
1.6.22 and then you need to enable the built-in office file pickers to choose
that jre.
