          Issue ID: 125526
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Data loss warning should be shown BEFORE saving
           Product: Calc
           Version: 4.1.1
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: save-export
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: pedl...@gmail.com

When exporting a spreadsheet with more than 256 columns to xls I get a wrong
error message (see Bug #85945) only AFTER saving.

I believe there should be a check on the file prior to saving and (if it
applies) a warning saying: The document contains more rows and/or columns than
supported in the selected format. There will be data loss. Do you still want to
proceed? Yes/No

This allows the user to go back and choose another format (e.g csv or ODS rev
1.1 for those who know how...)

What is the point of warning the user *after* an incomplete file has been
created?
