Could you get the logs from kafka and zookeeper as well? One of the things
that can cause a controller crash loop is if kafka is "up"

i believe that is correct. kube should be calling `/ping` on port 8080 of
the controller container directly. you could try

Its not obvious from the log why the controller is crashing. Could you do a
`kubectl describe` on the pod, maybe there will be some
