Position: Network Engineer - Unix/Windows Environment

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Duration: 8+Months            

W2 Rate: $30.00/hr all inclusive 


Description: 

Responsible for the engineering planning, design, implementation, and operation 
of Unix and Windows Midrange computing platforms for n-Tier application 
architectures. Responsibilities include research and development of new 
technology and engineering best practices, as well as the implementation of 
complex and comprehensive solutions for enterprise and Line of Business 
applications.

Roles and Responsibilities:


Candidate will be working on one or both of the following:
Patch level and Software version currency and Audit Analysis and deliverable 
execution:
- Technical coordination of the patching roadmap ensure deliverables are 
clearly identified and execution plans are in line with available resources
- Cross team engagement between the technology towers to ensure that this new 
VSI offering is capable of sustaining the projected growth and compliant to 
organizational standards
- Review, Develop, maintain and remove internal risk assessments within the 
virtual environment (CSA's)

Capacity planning process improvement and Automation of Performance & Capacity 
Metrics:
- Automation/optimization of existing scripts and manual processes to be used 
as proactive tool for identification of performance issues and utilization 
trends
- Resolution/prevention of issues resulting from manual capacity planning, lack 
of real time assessments and status of utilized vs available capacity in the 
VSI environment.
- Support in Roadmap development and of the Capacity Planning process and data 
integration from both manual and existing systems.
- Technical support on L3 issues and support of the Cross Impacted teams to 
resolve those items related to the initiatives above. 

 Skills:


General Software: VMware vCenter Server, vCenter Server Heartbeat, vCeter 
Converter, vCenter Site Recovery Manager, vCenter Lab Manager, vCenter 
Lifecycle Manager, vCenter, vCenter AppSpeed, vMotion 

- Have designed and implemented technology solutions based on VMware products 
and has provided support of escalated performance issues within this product 
suite 
- Experience in the assessment of software/hardware solutions in critical 
production environments and can promptly identify/resolve application or 
product flaws in VM ESX environment
- Enable the automation of key business processes for the purpose of monitoring 
performance and alerting by designing and/or scripting solutions either 
independently or with input from internal Operations teams or from Vendor 
guidance resulting in improved effectiveness and enhanced capabilities of day 
to day operations 
- Ability to share information, document solutions and communicate status 
within the internal technical organization and within the business (leverage 
technical strengths and problem-solving capabilities)
- Ability to maximize technology infrastructure by liaising with all 
application groups to enhance the delivery of the overall service offering 
- Ensure alignment of issue resolution and solutions meet enterprise 
virtualization goals and close discussion with external Engineering and 
Architecture teams related to SAN, NAS storage designs and adherence to firm 
wide Network topology designs
