We just received this from the State of NC and the position Is a UNC
Greensboro NC, 6 month contract. Please review and let me know if you have
anyone. They can be a H1B but need to have excellent communication skills.
They must have 3 years Banner exp as well as Oracle.

 

Reason for the Position:  Banner Environment - Application Development

UNCG has implemented all core modules of SunGardHE Banner systems and the
MIS department continuously develops new functionality integrated within the
Banner framework.

Application Development in this Banner environment includes development
support of custom Internet Native Banner (INB) Forms, Self Service Banner
Web Pages (SSB), PL/SQL packages, Appworx Job Modules & Chains, Data
Maintenance Processes, Interfaces, Data Tables and Views. Customizations may
also take the form of modifications to baseline vendor supplied code.

UNCG utilizes a three-tier environment (Development, Validation and
Production) to manage routine development and production control processes.
Additional Banner instances are created and used to support specific
projects. Data tables number 4200+ in each Banner instance.


 

Job Description:  
MIS's clients have a project backlog of small and medium sized projects
centered around, but not exclusive to the Banner General Module. UNCG is
seeking contractor assistance in performing all aspects of applications
development work related to these projects. Contractor must be able to
perform all aspects of work falling within the systems development life
cycle (SDLC) (analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation,
maintenance). Design documentation in the form of functional and technical
specifications is required for any new feature and/or functionality and
requires ITS management approval. Contractor will work under the supervision
of an ITS manager. Depending on the nature of the project, contractor may be
working with a team of other ITS staff or independently performing tasks
falling within one or more phases within the SDLC. Solutions will be
developed under both Banner 7.x and Banner 8.x releases.

All work to be performed by the contractor is to be to UNCG's standards
which will be available for review by contractor candidates selected for
interview. 

Work is to be performed on site in Greensboro, NC. UNCG will provide a work
space for the contractor co-located with MIS department and desktop computer
for use with standard MIS software (TOAD or PL/SQL Developer), Oracle Forms
Developer, Ultra-Edit Suite. All work will be performed in UNCG development
environments and follow standard UNCG protocols for code promotion and
client testing.               

 

Required Skills:  RDBMS-possess 5 yrs exp. developing applications in an
enterprise level relational database management system environment, with 3
yrs on Oracle and a thorough understanding of RDBMS concepts including
normalized/denormalized data architectures, role/object/system security, and
database object creation/maintenance
SDLC-exp in all phases of the systems dev life cycle (analysis, design,
coding, testing, implementation, maintenance)

Troubleshooting-ability to resolve highly complex problems related to data,
Banner application configuration, Banner/Oracle user level security, Oracle
object properties. 

Communication/Collaboration-excellent oral and written comm skills required;
learn & understand core operating principles for client work units; able to
relate core operating principles to specific IT solutions; confer w/ mgt and
senior ITS tech staff for IT architecture decisions; 

Banner-min. 3 yrs of exp. in developing Applications in Banner, w/recent
exp. in a Banner 7.x or 8.x environment. Exp. with
developing/maintaining/modifying, PL/SQL packages used in Banner Self
Service Applications, ability to author/modify Internet Native Banner Forms,
ability to author data reporting, extract and maintenance jobs using PL/SQL.
Strong working exp. of Banner General Module and Shared Data elements, Name,
Bio/Demo, Address, Phone, Email, etc. Should also have working exp of at
least one and preferably more than one of the Core Banner Modules: Student,
Payroll, Position Control, Finance, Advancement, Financial Aid, or Student
Accounts Receivable.

Certifications: 
Certifications are not required however, strongest consideration will be
given to candidates presenting any of the below Certifications: 
Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate
Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional
Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional     

 

Desired Skills:  Prefer Familiarity with advanced Banner Data Security
Features i.e. Data Masking, Value Based Security, PII.






 

Top 3-5 Skills Desired:  Banner-min. 3 yrs of exp. in developing
Applications in Banner, w/recent exp. in a Banner 7.x or 8.x environment.
Exp. with developing/maintaining/modifying, PL/SQL packages used in Banner

Additional Notes:            Closing date is 5pm on 1/16/09.
Respondents are requested to provide:
* Resume's of potential contractors.
* References from appropriate technical management regarding performance of
work similar to what is requested above. 
* Samples of Prior Work for each potential contractor, (Copies of Functional
and Technical Specifications principally authored by contractor & Copies of
PL/SQL Code principally authored by contractor.)

*All Samples of Prior Work will be returned to respondent after bid
processes are complete and do not become property of UNCG. 

Normal Work hours will be 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Upon mutual
agreement with MIS management contractor may choose to work more than 40
hours per week, (Hourly rate will not be subject to increase for hours above
40 per week).

Candidates selected for qualifications interview will be required to
complete phone interview which may include a sample of work exercise.
