* * *Sr. SQL / Oracle DBA* *Location: New York, NY* *Duration: 6+ months with option to extend * *Start Date: ASAP* Job Description: The group's focus is on setting technical direction in the Unix and Windows database environments and providing infrastructure solutions enabling a high-availability strategy. Responsibilities include: · Production support of databases on Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL on Linux/Unix and Windows servers. · Support enterprise databases by performing database monitoring, performance tuning, database backup, clustering, replication, scripting to automate processes. · This position requires working 10am - 6pm and initially this resource does not require to be on-call, but this may change in the future. Require high-level expertise with Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL databases to support corporate technology decision to standardize database deployment on these platforms. The individual filling this position will be responsible for: · Installation, maintenance, upgrades, and release management of databases. · Develop, document, and deploy database technical services. · Provide top-level technical assistance to business units and Customer Support department. · Work with peers and other support organizations to deploy new services. · Provide documentation, and customer support for new services. · Operate in teamwork environment with internal and external customers. · Additional responsibilities as instructed. Skills: ·In depth knowledge in one or more of the following technologies with previous engineering experience in large environment is needed: ·Proactive Monitoring, notifying and tuning database and application for optimal performance ·Perform database backup and restore, ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements · Work with developers for query performance tuning · Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and windows Architecture · Able to document processes and procedures ·Experience in Oracle 10g/11g data guard, MS-SQL 2008/2005 database replication · Experience in Oracle EM · Data Modelling and logical/physical database design is a plus · Ability to read Programming/Shell scripting to automate daily DBA tasks is a plus Soft Skills: · Team Player with excellent communications required, as there is a significant interaction with client/end user communities. · Strong project management and organizational skills · Ability to articulate technology in business terms and translate business needs into technology strategy Ability to work independently with minimal supervision ·Quick problem solver who can work under pressure and tight timelines / deadlines.
