In Acrobat there is a difference between 'signing' a PDF document and 'certifying' a PDF document. Certifying is also applying a digital signature but can only be done once by the author. Signing can be done multiple times.

When a 'certified document' is shown in Adobe Reader, it shows an Author Signature in the Signature tab. When a 'signed document' is shown in Adobe reader, it shows a Recipient Signature in the Signature tab.

With iText I've only been able to create Recipient Signatures. (I followed the instructions in http://itextpdf.sourceforge.net/howtosign.html and looked for any other information in the mailing lists and Javadocs without success...) Is there a way to also create the Author Signatures?
