I have NOT looked at the source code, so...
If you just create a new PDFWriter using the line
PdfWriter.getInstance(document, new FileOutputStream("mydoc.pdf"));
isn't this eligible for garbage collection or is there an internal static
variable the keeps a pointer to it?
