Nope no options in my modprobe.conf (I'm running this on gentoo so the
equivlent would be the ivtv file in the modules.d dir, unless I'm
mistaken). I used to have some in there but haveing seen all the

Hans,
I have the Diamond PVR-550 card, and we worked together on the
0.3.7g release, and finally got a
patch that worked. Problem was cardtype=1 gave video only, until we
patched, then sound came with it.
I tested 0.3.7k and it failed miserably. No audio or video on the

Hi Hans,
I don't have PVR-550, but I tried this patch anyway, trying to see if it
solved a aound problem I have with my 500mce - this patch had adverse
effect on my card though.
Normally I run with this option:

It solves a problem with missing sound when using the tuner. However, I am
not sure if this patch might break the sound for others who now have good
sound. Please let me know if it succeeds or not!

I have a PVR-150 that partially works, the SVideo and RCA connectors
work fine, but if I hook up the coax from my cable it works much less
well. I can get three channels only ( 4 5 and 6 ) which are usually in
black and white, but sometimes the color comes through ( mostly not ).

Ok it got a but more complicated.
Attached is a reworked Imakefile.
Rerun the xmkmf command, remove the .o files and then recompile.
Hopefully it will now use the correct code.

I've had great success with my PVR350's TV-Out and John Harvey's latest X
driver (10.5). On rare occasions I've had lockups of the PVR350 decoder
(encoder was still pumping away) requiring a reboot to fix. I had one the
other day, but I think it was caused by something that was being executed in

Hartelijk dank!
I've uploaded to www.xs4all.nl/~hverkuil an ivtv-0.3.7k release (Chris, can
you copy it to your archive?).
Changes:
#0.3.7k - moved YUV code into ivtv-yuv.c
- moved version info into ivtv-version.h
- added detection for PVR500
- added --version option for ivtvctl

I pretty much use my PVR-250 and 350 cards just for MythTV. All my
recordings are at 720x480; just because this is what has been stable in
the past for me. So here are my dumb questions:
Is it now possible to record at alternate resolutions like 480x480 etc?
Will the smaller resolution record

Hey everybody,
I was surprised when I tried to play an mpeg file (generated by reading from
/dev/video) on the Mac OS X quicktime application. I got this message:
Couldn't open the file "pti.mpg" because it is not a file that
QuickTime understands.
The file does play flawlessly with mplayer.
Unfortunately, none of that worked. When this has happened in the past,
the only thing that will correct it is moving it to another pci slot and
trying again.
which involves a full power off and time to let the caps die. Just
power down and unplug it for a minute or so and then restart it.

My remote will not respond now after several reboots and full shutdowns.
Not sure what the problem is. The /dev/lirc0 device is present. dmesg
gives the following:
lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x71 (Hauppauge IR (PVR150))
ivtv: i2c attach [client=Hauppauge IR (PVR150),ok]
lirc_dev: lirc_register_plug
Another patch from Ian to fix more YUV issues.
Comments from Ian are :-
The algorithm for both horizontal & vertical scaling is now correct. The
values calculated now match the firmware. This cleans up the scaling, for
some size combination would produce rogue horizontal / vertical bands.
